Hello! I recently got a pair of Beyerdynamics dt 990 pro 250 ohm and are looking to get an amp and dac. I have been overwhelmed of all the options available but can still not seem to find which one that is right for these headphones. A few of the amp/dacs i am considering: Fiio E10K Olympus 2. Schiit stack (Modi + Magni 3+/heresy) ifi zen dac v2. The DT-990 Pro 250 is an open back design. The soundstage is broad. Maybe not as broad as listening in a well laid-out room with precisely placed and designed speakers but the soundstage is open and broad enough for me to distinguish individual musical instruments and their position in reference to the overall musical program. For the kind of cash you would spend for the Schiit stack (Modi/Magni), or the ODAC/O2, you could get headphones noticeably better then the DT990 Pro 250-Ohm FiiO E10K or FiiO Q1 or Schiit Fulla or the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z sound card, should provide good bang for the buck, for driving the DT990. Peaks can be an instant turn off in the treble range. Check their frequency response instead of trusting people. 990s have 2 major and one other possibly painful peak in the treble and it may really become hell for almost every single genre. I suggest something else, if you can. here you can see their chart. I like to recommend the monoprice liquid spark for a amp and use a dongle DAC like an apple USB C dongle but if your willing to stretch the budget you can easily buy a nice $!00 DAc to go with your amp. liek the JDS labs atom DAC or the Schiit modi or the rather unique earmen donald DAC. the reason I reccomend the liquid spark over any other Cables 1.8m and 3.0m both with 3.5mm jack. Weight 345g (without cable) We find the DT 900 Pro X a joy to wear over longer listening sessions. Their open design means that our ears don’t overheat and the carefully considered headband shape and nicely-judged earpads result in proper long term comfort. Hi everyone, I've been looking for an answer to that question for several days without finding any. I own a BD DT-990 Pro in its 250 ohms version and my fairly-old M-Audio MobilePre MKII interface can correctly "drive" it but I have to crank the headphone volume up to 100% every time. hPPBcC.
